About Ruth Jones, DO
My life has always been about providing services to others.
My first love has always been with animals — working as a Veterinary Medical Technician and also breeding Thoroughbred horses. I did this for 10 years and also through college. During this time I was given very valuable lessons that I carry through life.
This is why I went to DO school — medicine and manipulation, the best of both worlds.
With combining these lessons and other experiences throughout life, I have always tried to provide services and be a caregiver. I certainly use medications when appropriate, but referring to lesson #1 — do things as naturally as possible. And also look at the entire picture. Try and see how the body is interrelated and the systems work together — balance the entire ecosystem of the body.
Lessons That Shape My Care
Two lessons I carry through life.
Lesson One
Keep as close to the way God intended.
The first was ultimate words of wisdom — keep the horse as close to the way God intended the horse to live and you will not have problems with them. That has certainly proven to be true with all of my animals — but it is also applied to everything including people.
Thank you Miss Kelley
Lesson Two — Bo
This opened my eyes to manipulative medicine.
The second was the first foal I had born on the farm — one of my soulmates in life — and his mother did not accept him the night he was born. She injured him; years later he still dealt with those injuries from time to time. I took him everywhere for veterinary care. When I heard of a chiropractor who worked on horses, this changed our world. Bo was sound and jumping 3-foot courses. This opened my eyes to manipulative medicine.
The Osteopathic Approach
Why I went to DO school.
This is why I went to DO school — medicine and manipulation, the best of both worlds.
Then I learned more of the philosophy of A.T. Still, the founder of Osteopathy. Structure / Function. Body, Mind & Spirit interrelated. What some consider relatively new concepts over the last 30–40 years, Dr. Still spoke about post–Civil War. What a visionary — way ahead of his time.
Structure / Function
How the body is built and how it works are inseparable — treatment addresses both together.
Body, Mind & Spirit
Interrelated systems. Look at the entire picture and how the systems work together.
As naturally as possible
Medications when appropriate — and always Lesson #1: do things as naturally as possible. Balance the entire ecosystem of the body.

The Power of Low Dose Naltrexone
Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)
Naltrexone is a medication which was developed in the mid-1960’s. It was approved for medical use in 1984. It is used to treat substance abuse — alcohol and opiates, and it helps people to decrease the euphoria that accompanies drinking alcohol and using drugs. The dose used is typically 50 to 100 mg.
Over the years, Naltrexone has been found to provide profound effects at a much lower dose, hence Low Dose Naltrexone therapy.
It has been found that at a low dose, Naltrexone helps the body distinguish between self and non-self. This means that if you have been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, your immune system, for some reason, is attacking yourself.
LDN has been found to help your immune system say “oops — that’s me” and tone down the immune response towards yourself by blocking receptors on immune cells.
LDN will also increase endorphins — your feel good hormones, which are also powerful antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and have mood boosting properties.
The inflammation (that it helps lower) will drive pain, weight gain, plaque build up in arteries, cause swelling, fatigue and cognitive decline. LDN has also been found to help with Depression that has been resistant to treatment.
Women's Health
Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
I have been providing Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) to hundreds of women for the past 25 years.
This is a safe, effective, NATURAL way of balancing hormones in your body to help optimize how you feel and help your body and mind stay healthier and function better.
It is natural for hormones to decrease as we age, but in today’s world of poor nutrition, genetic modifications that are NOT healthy for our bodies, so much increased stress, lack of sleep, lack of exercise and enjoyment activities, our bodies are NOT handling this well. Our hormones are being depleted and the compensatory mechanisms are not capable of maintaining a low level baseline of hormones.
My goal in treating someone with BHRT is NOT to return you to the levels you were at in your 20’s. We lose 10% every decade. But to give you enough to take away the hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, moodiness / depression, foggy thinking, vaginal dryness and other symptoms.
We will then check levels of the hormones using a 24 hour urine test.
